Ultrasonic sensors use sound waves to detect an object, which means they are not affected by the colour of the item to be detected. They are used predominantly to detect clear materials like glass or film and for liquid level control. As we are using sound rather than light the ultrasonic sensor is also suited to applications in dirty or dusty environments.
